Burkina Faso

In 2014, REACH was initiated in Burkina Faso with a view to enhancing multi-sectoral nutrition governance thanks to the generous support of Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). An International Facilitator was recruited later that year to launch the REACH initiative, who was joined by a National Facilitator in 2015. Both facilitators are hosted by the World Food Programme Country Office, and are actively working to catalyze multi-sectoral action with a focus on the following objectives.

Burkina Faso Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of the nutrition situation and build consensus on the best strategies and priorities for improvement amongst relevant stakeholders;
  • Reinforce national nutrition policies, plans and programmes which integrate and operationalize key nutrition actions through a multi-sectoral approach;
  • Facilitate the establishment of a multi-sectoral nutrition coordination platform and strengthen capacity for nutrition governance actions;
  • Increase effectiveness and accountability amongst stakeholders concerned with the implementation and support of nutrition actions
